PRAYER HAS NO SUBSTITUTES

According to E.M. Bounds

Are we praying as Christ did? Do we abide in him? Are our pleas and spirit the overflow of his spirit and pleas? Does love rule the spirit -perfect love?

These questions must be considered as proper and relevant at a time like the present. We

do fear that we are doing more of other things than prayer.  This is not a praying age; it is an age of great activity, of great movements, but one in which the tendency is very strong to stress the seen and the material and to neglect and discount the unseen and the spiritual. Prayer is the greatest of all forces, because it honors God and brings him into active aid.

There can be no substitute, no rival for prayer; it stands alone as the great spiritual force, and this force must be imminent and acting. It cannot be dispensed with during one generation, nor held in abeyance for the advance of any great movement- it must be continuous and particular, always, everywhere, and in everything. We cannot run our spiritual operations on the prayers of the past generation. Many persons believe in the efficacy of prayer, but not many pray. Prayer is the easiest and hardest of all things; the simplest and sublimest; the weakest and the most powerful; its results lie outside the range of human possibilities---they are limited only by the omnipotence of God.

Only glimpses of this importance of prayer could the apostles get before Pentecost.

But the Spirit coming and filling on Pentecost elevated prayer to its vital and all-commanding position in the gospel of Christ. The call to every saint of prayer is the Spirit’s loudest and most exacting call.

Where are the Christlike leaders who can teach the modern saints how to pray and put them at it? Where are the apostolic leaders who can put God’s people to praying?

Harvest Time international has not allowed the Pandemic called COVID-19 to stop our Mission endeavors. We were able to end strong in 2020.

In addition to the Teacher Symposium that we facilitated by Zoom for those who work with Matthew 18:14 schools under the leadership of Pastor Rebeca, we were able to ship personal items and sandals to the DUMP as Christmas presents for the children who are living there.

We donated to the following Mission Outreach Ministries:

  • ·Greater Life Ministry Community Outreach, Newark, NJ
  • St. Joseph’s Indian School, South Dakota
  • Hope Christian Tabernacle’s Teacher Outreach, Philadelphia, Pa.

We shipped the items below to Mexico to be given out to people. As part of our Mission endeavor for 2020 for Tijuana, Mexico. Personal items, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, lotion, deodorant, hand sanitizer, sandals, some clothes items for children. All may not be shown in picture. The outreach will take place on March 20th. Another organization will donate 300 pairs of shoes to be given out as well.

Though we are not able to travel, we can still serve the needs of people. Please continue to support Harvest Time by praying for us and giving. We appreciate you and will keep you posted on our mission endeavors. You help to make our work and service possible.

NEWS UPDATE

Greetings to our friends and supporters,

Harvest Time is still embracing Mission activities, even though the  Pandemic has prevented us from traveling to Mexico since 2019. We are in contact with Elder Michael Waldrup, Mission Acts Ministries, and Pastor Rebeca DeGodoy who runs the Cecavi Institute and oversees the School at the DUMP outside of Tijuana, Mexico. We still support with donations and personal items for the children.

Speaking of Children, several of them have graduated from High School and are doing well. Many of them play musical instruments and are part of an orchestra.

The great news is that we started a Scholarship Fund in the Fall of 2022 in honor of Pastor Ivan H. Bristol who was a founding member of Harvest Time and one of our advisors. He traveled with us and made a very positive impact on the Ministry.

He passed away in July, 2022,  so we felt the best way to honor him is to be a blessing to a few students each year who are entering their first year of college.

Please continue to pray for the Ministry as we follow the leading of the Lord when embracing Mission endeavors.  We are planning another trip to Tijuana, Mexico and to the DUMP area soon.  Africa awaits our return, but we are praying about that.

Please consider donating to the Scholarship Fund . Upon accessing the website, please see the Giving Link for the Ivan Bristol Scholarship Fund and use the Cash App: $IHBristolScholarship. Your gift will go a long way in helping us to achieve our goals. Thanks for all you do to assist Harvest Time.

Please make sure you check out the photos on the website of activities involving the Teachers and Children that we have the privilege of ministering to and serving.
